Sicilian Night at The Big Ragu
Had dinner last night at The Big Ragu . It was Sicilian night, invitation
only, prix fixe. (The BG does special nights about once a month; you
just have to let Carmen, the owner-chef, know that you want to get
on the email list.)
Oh man! The food was delicious and plentiful, the wine flowed, and
the atmosphere was warm, loud, and joyous. The menu follows, for those
who like to eat vicariously:
Una Serata Siciliana
Antipasti
“Panello di Cecci” (Chick pea frilters stuffed with
anchovies, sun dried tomatoes and black olives)
“InsaIata di polipo” (Octopus salad)
Primi
“Timballo alia Siciliana” (A baked drum filled pasta
with eggplant, sausage, mozzareIla, ricotta and lots of love)
“Pasta con Ie Sarde” (penne with sardines, capers, fennel
and tomatoes)
Secondi
“Calamari Imbotitti” (Stuffed Calamari)
“Involtini di Melanzane” (Eggplant filled with ricotta
served with caponata, a traditional mistura of stewed eggplant and
peppers)
Dolce Cassata & Torta di Mandorle
